Colorado's Northwest Camping Spots

We have researched and assembled all the best Northwest camping locations in Colorado for you. You have choices of 100's of camp sites in National Forest, National Park, National Grassland, and Colorado state land in the Nortwest region.

The developed campground areas will have a fee for camping and most state and national park areas will have a daily use fee. Please be sure to check with the local responsible agency to get the most current fee and access information.

Sylvan Lake State Park is a great place to camp. Located on Sylvan Lake this camping location has great fishing and boating (non-motorized, bring the paddles!). You will enjoy the showers and modern rest rooms after a fun day at camp. Bring your OHV (off hiway vehicle) and your horses for pleasant rides in the mountains. It is even close to whitewater rafting! Yahoo!

Medicine Bow - Routt National Forests & Thunder Basin National Grassland areas and the White River National Forest are located in the Northwest region of Colorado along with Dinosaur National Monument. These areas have lots of nice camping locations to choose from. If your near Dinosaur National Monument be sure to check out the Dinosaur Virtual Museum, it's cool!

Colorado State Park camping areas are list below. We have included the conveniences provided at the campground along with activities for that location. You can choose camping locations that offer fishing, boating, hiking, and biking.

Some state parks even have access to whitewater rafting, horseback riding, ohv riding, and hot air ballooning! If you can't find the activity you're looking for check another region of Colorado that is close to you.
